Las Virellas

Las Virellas

Since its inception in April 2022, the truck has gained attention for its menu featuring classic dishes like churrasco, mofongo, arroz con gandules, and jibaritos sliders. However, the truck’s backstory, filled with perseverance and love, is equally captivating. The journey began over a decade ago in Ciales, Puerto Rico, where Carolin Virella, with a background in bartending, developed a passion for cooking. After relocating to Milwaukee in 2017 for better opportunities for her son, she eventually teamed up with Mildred Virella, and Las Virellas was born. Initially starting as a sandwich concept, the truck quickly transitioned to serving authentic Puerto Rican fare, earning recognition in local newspapers and media outlets. Their menu boasts signature dishes like the Boricua Box and the Tripleta sandwich, along with customizable combos and refreshing beverages. Looking ahead, Carolin and Mildred dream of establishing a brick-and-mortar restaurant that offers not just food but a true Puerto Rican cultural experience, aiming to create a legacy for their children.
